Bullying Prevention
-
The goal for Bullying Prevention is to change the norms around bullying behavior and to restructure the school setting itself so that bullying is less likely to occur or to be rewarded.
In addition to school counseling services, the teachers will be implementing Social and Emotional Lessons several times throughout the year. The student will learn how to manage peer conflicts and access help if a bullying situation arises. They will be using the research based program, Second Step. Within the school setting, each teacher and student has access to a bullying report form which they can use to report an incident. These forms are sent electronically through the teachers’ computers or handed in to the guidance office.
Bullying is a serious offense and Penn’s Grove is working hard to combat these occurrences. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Motes, Mrs. Chastain, Mr. DeEmilio, Ms. Davis, or Mrs. Azzara if you have any questions or concerns about the program.
