                                                Monthly Character Traits

            September- Respect. This month focuses on how to show respect by speaking kindly to others, sharing, listening and following directions, and using manners.

            October- Responsibility. Students learn what responsibility is and how to show it in school and at home. This includes completing work, and taking care of school property and their own personal property.

            November- Self-Control/Patience. This month focuses on students learning what self-control and patience mean and how to show them in school. This includes waiting your turn, keeping your hands to yourself, and developing different ways to handle your feelings.

            December- Kindness/Caring. Students are taught how to show kindness and caring by using kind words, asking others to play, and helping others.

            January- Cooperation/Teamwork. This month teaches students how to work as a team/group.  This includes sharing materials, completing tasks, taking turns, and encouraging others.

            February- Honesty/Trustworthy. Students are taught how to show courage by doing what is right, even if others are not doing it.  They also learn that they need to always tell the truth. 

            March- Effort/Perseverance. This month focuses on not giving up when something is hard and to always give your best effort.

            April- Fairness. Students learn the importance of following rules and taking turns when playing a game.

            May- Leadership. This month focuses on what it means to lead by example and be helpful to others.
