We use the KWL with non-fiction text.  It organizes our thoughts into what we know, what we want to know, and what we learned.

We use the Main Idea & Details graphic organizer when we're reading a non-fiction book.  The details should support the main idea.  The main idea is usually in the first paragraph of a non-fiction text or section.

We use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast elements of a fiction book or topics in a non-fiction book.

We will use this to help organize story elements of a fiction book.

Please use this graphic organizer if you're making a prediction.  We do this prior to reading a book or section of a book.  If you're reading a fiction book, predict what will happen.  If you're reading a non-fiction book, predict what you will learn.
